Romania rewards the most active GOW17 partners!
GOW17 was the eighth time Fundația EOS organised the Get Online Week digital inclusion campaign in Romania, known locally as Hai pe Net! Year over year, more and more partners (school, libraries, NGOs, universities and individuals) hoined this unique campaign to raise awareness about the importance of digital skills for Romania's citizens. This campaign is of utmost importance, since, according to the DESI 2017 statistics, Romania is ranked last inthe EU 28 member states in terms of digital skills.
In order to motivate partners to reach far and make their message heard loud and clear, a number of digital inclusion awards were announced today to celebrate the success and involvement of the most active partners. A total of 9 prizes were presented in 7 categories:
The partners who have worked most intensely to promote digital inclusion will be rewarded with prizes ranging from tablets to printers, monitors, cameras and video-cameras. These small pieces of equipment will no doubt help them plan an even more vigorous Get Oline Week campaign during 2018.
Last, but not least, Romania has finished Get Online Week through a major event: the national finals of the Microsoft Office World Championship. It was held at the Microsoft headquarters and was attended by 30 finalist students and many invites, inclusing Gabriela Matei, General Manager ofMicrosoft Romania and Liviu Ispas, Secretary of State, Ministry of National Education. Also, the Ministry of Communications and Information Society was represented through Mr. Gheorghe Sârbu, Counsellor to the Minister.
Durign this event, students sat a Microsoft Office Specialist exam and the highest score was achieved by Tiberiu Danciu, a student from Grigore Moisil High School in Bucharest. Tibi will be representing Romania at the Microsoft Office World Championship which will be held in Anaheim California on 1 August 2017.
Get Online Week was as always a great, many-faceted campaign - we hope it has taught, inspired and enthused thousands of Romanians to take the next step towards a better digital future!
