Survey on developments in vocational education and training

Vocational education and training (VET) is undergoing a process of continuous change: New Institutions from higher education and/or economy become active in VET on national and international levels. Thereby, VET i more and more a part of Lifelong Learning.

 

 

The European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop) is currently working on a project relating to this background and focusing on the ‘Changing Nature and Role of Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Europe'. This research supports the European Commission and the EU Member States in setting objectives for post-2020 European cooperation in this area and aims to analyze the developments of VET in the last 20 years to ascertain possible developments of VET in the future from 2020. Consortium partners include Danish Technological Institute (DTI, DNK), University of Warwick (IER, UK), Tallinn University (IISS, EST), Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini (FGB, IT), and the Federal Institute for Vocational  Education and Training (BIBB, DE).

As part of this project, a new online questionnaire for experts from various institutional backgrounds in the area of VET has been launched. Its goal is to capture the single developments of VET in different European Countries between 1995 and 2015 and therewith validate previous findings from the project. Additionally, some parts of the survey are dedicated to scenarios for VET in 2035.
